Yard Act: 100% Endurance in Cambridge, MA

André Rober Beriau

Three-piece bands to the front, please. Omni, a dynamic post-punk band out of Atlanta, GA, set the tone early with their infectious energy and tight-knit sound. With their newest release Souvenir out on Sub Pop Records, the gang brought cheerful melodies to The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA in support of Leeds, UK rockers Yard Act on Friday, October 11th.

Importing a bit of Beck and splash of spokenword to Boston folks, Yard Act did not disappoint, launching into an enthusiastic set that captured the audience's attention from the first note. In support of their latest release, Where's My Utopia, their performance was marked by a delightful chaos as the band moved about the stage, intertwining humor and artistry with every song. The highlight of the night was undoubtedly We Make Hits, which sent the crowd into a frenzy, showcasing their knack for blending catchy hooks with sharp social commentary.

For those who didn’t have a view of the backup singers and their coordinated dancing – their debut at stage center halfway through the set sent the crowd into cheers as Daisy Smith and Lauren Fitzpatrick writhed and wiggled t

o the rhythm as James Smith belted out his commentary on the human condition. Standout tracks like 100% Endurance displayed their ability to merge rhythmic precision with raw energy, while the closing song, The Trench Coat Museum, was an adventurous and bizarre finale that left everyone buzzing. Yard Act proved to be masters of their craft who have honed their stage presence and live sound.
